Black History, Conrad WorrillMayor Johnson - Reparations Executve Order
On June 17, 2024 during the City of Chicago's Juneteenth Flag Raising Celebration, Mayor Brandon Johnson made the nation news when he took two very important steps towards advancing reparations in Chicago. First, he signed an Executive Order to establish a Reparation Task Force. And, secondly and perhaps the largest achievement in Chicago Reparations to date, he issued a formal apology for the city's involvement in chattel slavery.

Conrad Worrill Community Reparations Commission and City of Chicago Reparations Commission

City of Chicago Reparations Commission charter was introduced on March 21, 2022.
CWCRC and N'COBRA co-host a membership drive and fundraiser which screening of "Who We are A Chornicles of Racism in America." Ald. Sawyer and Ald. Stephanie Coleman attended to support City of Chicago reparations, give updates, and hear from constituents. REGISTER

CWCRC host the 1st ever City of Chicago Mayoral Forum on Reparations for the Descendant of Enslaved Africans at Malcolm X College. Mayoral Candidates answered several questions about: 1. What reparations means to them, 2. how they would move reparations forward in Chicago, if they would establish a Commission or a Sub-Committee and other great questions. READ MORE
CWCRC requested to meet with both run-off Mayoral Candidates. Paul Vallas was unavailable to meet with us directly however he sent his representative to hear our 100 Day Robust Plan request. Paul Vallas agreed with delivering on these items, however some modification may be made. REGISTER

CWCRC is hoping to have Mayor Brandon Johnson and members of the City of Chicago Sub-committee on reparations attend this community meeting to over their plans for Chicago Reparations. We will announce the 2023 CWCRC selection committee charged with developing duties and the application process in choosing the Conrad Worrill Community Reparations Commissioners. 37 Community Commissioners will oversee reparations issues, research, design, and implementation for Chicago's 77 communities.
